Fleece Assessment and Uses

Date/Time Location Course facilitator
9 Aug 2016 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM Causeway Farm Julia Desch

The first hour will be spent in the big barn on raw fleece, handling fleeces after shearing and how to grade them etc. Then down to the Studio for light refreshment whilst going round the store room and studio.  This is a practical/open course where an overview of using longwool can be seen first hand.  Discussion is welcome as it will give you the opportunity to ask questions and expand your knowledge on this subject.

Level of knowledge: from absolute beginner to the more experienced.

Tutor:  Julia Desch.  Talented and highly respected in her field. Always exploring new ideas to work with.

A perfect way to spend a summers evening.

Members are welcome to bring their own fleece but please email gto@stfg.co.uk if you intend to do so we know what fleeces to expect and  we can ensure we don’t have too many.  If you have a particular interest/problem with fleeces please also email and we can aim to include this in the evening.
You will need to bring an old apron, rubber or  similar thin gloves and in case of pregnancy or health difficulties a face mask.

Notebook and pen also useful.

For further information: Julia will also be  having a stand at the Weald Wool Fair on July 2nd at Wadhurst 10 – 4. Work will be on Exhibition at the WING Gallery with others 18th June – 16th July.  Also at “Crafts in the Making” 11 – 4 on Saturday 20th August, Bodle Street Green Village Hall. All opportunities to consider ways of moving forward with wool etc.
