Kate Parrish from Fairfield House Vets in Uckfield is going to teach us how to give injections to sheep, cattle, goats and pigs. She will discuss which common injectable medications should be given by which route (sub-cutaneous, intra-muscular and intra-venous), which needle to choose and how to keep the animal still!
We’ll also discuss dosing, recording medicine use, and what it means to treat an animal “off-licence”, from a legal perspective and a practical perspective.
Our demonstration animals will be some elderly sheep and we will be vaccinating them as well as injecting them with sterile water – so you will have an opportunity to practice injecting them yourselves.
Please do not attend if you are showing any symptoms of COVID-19, or have been in contact with anyone showing symptoms.
