How to Incorporate Livestock in Regenerative Agriculture – Animals in Smallfarming

Date/Time Location Course facilitator
15 Sep 2018 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM The Crossing Emma Goodwin

Looking at principles of regenerative agriculture on a REALLY small scale.  Mob grazing.  Using livestock as co-workers on a fossil fuel free farm.  Basic care and rotation of pigs and sheep.  How to build top soil and sequester carbon using tried and tested techniques from the Holistic Land Management and Regenerative Agriculture movements.  Stories from the bigger picture globally in the US, Australia and South Africa.  Why the UK needs to look at soil and how we treat this ‘green and pleasant land’.

Emma Goodwin is a Demeter Certified Biodynamic grower who has run a veg box scheme for the last 4 years in Forest Row.  Her one acre plot of no-dig raised beds has a beautiful friable loam that sits atop a heavy clay with woodchip paths and nitrogen fixing trees. Although she works with the biodynamic planting calendar, Emma also takes inspiration from the Natural Farming movement, Permaculture principles, and uses biochar, seeking inspiration from any source that helps create biodiversity and health in the soil.

Emma is also  the South East rep for the landworkers alliance see  www.thecrossingforestrow.com
