Want to grow your own mushrooms on a log?….. Come along to Mushroom Morning on Sunday 7th November*… This workshop is part of our “enthusiastic amateurs” range of workshops, and is led by fellow members, not professional experts. It is therefore ideally suited for beginners. We would welcome any experts to come and share their knowledge if you would like to join us.

• How to care for your log and what to expect
Afterwards we will have a practical session where you use our equipment to:
• Drill your log
• Inoculate your log
• Wax seal your inoculations
What you will take away and included in the price of the workshop
1 x 50cm hard wood log inoculated and sealed with either Oyster or Shiitake mushroom spawn and the knowledge to produce and care for many more. Once it starts growing (in 6-12 months), your log can produce mushrooms for to 4 -6 years depending on its environment. There will be the option to purchase additional logs on the day for £5 once everyone has completed one. There is also the option to take away a quick growing kit for inside growing of Hen of the Woods.
Additionally the spawn inoculating tools will be available for hire from our tool library if/when you would like to inoculate more logs yourself.
*Please note that this event will be held in outside, in a private woodland. Please dress warmly, and wear wellies or suitable shoes. We do have access to a barn if it is raining, but it isn’t heated and has open sides. Standard tea and coffee will be served, if you have any special milk requirements, dietary needs please bring your own and we will happily serve it for you. You are welcome to bring your own snacks too. (there are no food options available on site). You are coming to a private home, where there are free range dogs roaming, so please drive carefully as you enter.
