No Dig- 5th MAY 2018

Date/Time Location Course facilitator
5 May 2018 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM The Crossing Emma Goodwin

Emma Goodwin is a Demeter Certified Biodynamic grower who has run a veg box scheme for the last 4 years in Forest Row.  Her one acre plot of no-dig raised beds has a beautiful friable loam that sits atop a heavy clay with woodchip paths and nitrogen fixing trees. Although she works with the biodynamic planting calendar, Emma also takes inspiration from the Natural Farming movement, Permaculture principles, and uses biochar, seeking inspiration from any source that helps create biodiversity and health in the soil.

Building good soil is essential if you want to grow really nutrient rich vegetables.  Our soils in britain have been almost exhausted by industrial farming and the use of artificial fertilisers, pesticides and herbicides, which have not only left the soil depleted but are also messing with our inner microbiome which can affect our health adversely.  Studies show that the mineral content of our vegetables are down approximately 40% from 1940’s  measurements.  That’s almost by half.  Come and learn how to create no-dig beds that require less hard work and create easy soil to work with and grow your own.   NO-DIG FOR VICTORY !  hot drinks and soup provided.

Emma is also  the South East rep for the landworkers alliance see  www.thecrossingforestrow.com
