FREE EVENT: Film Night

Date/Time Location Course facilitator
15 Oct 2021 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM Goward Hall, Cade Street, Heathfield Film: The Last Shepherds

Our October meeting will be a film night featuring “The Last Shepherds”, a 2004 film about shepherding in Northumberland.

Described as a captivating glimpse of a fading era, The Last Shepherds follows Dave, Stewart and wife Gwen as they tend their flocks on the rugged Cheviot Hills. Dave, who’s keen on preserving the customs of the past, has worked on the same farm for 40 years. He carves his own walking sticks, makes his own sheepdog whistles from pieces of tin and enjoys nothing more than a night of music and memories at a shepherds’ get-together on a winter’s night. Inspirational and evocative, this fascinating look at shepherding traditions chronicles a way of life that is destined to become a distant memory.

Friday October 15th at the Goward Hall, Cade Street, Heathfield TN21 9BU. Click here for directions.
Doors open at 7.30 pm with the opportunity to have tea/coffee/juice and biscuits before the film at 8.00pm. Finish time will be 9.30pm.
