This is a practical workshop with hands on opportunities to learn how to handle sheep and perform routine stock tasks.
James Gasson will teach us how to observe the sheep and tell if they are healthy, for example are they anaemic? He will cover general handling of sheep for foot trimming and dagging.
He will discuss wormers, vitamin drenches and boluses.
James will also be vaccinating his lambs with Heptavac P.
We will discuss the symptoms of fly strike and how to protect your animals.
James is bringing 18 ewes and 30 lambs, so we will have the chance to practise these techniques.
Afterwards you may care to join James and Jenny Cloke in the pub for a drink/lunch. We have not booked a table but if you decide to join us bring some money.
