Peg Loom Weaving

Date/Time Location Course facilitator
14 Aug 2021 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM Baulcombes Barn Owena Lewis

Have you every wanted to make a wool rug?   This is a hands on course, working from ‘ fleece to rug’ in a morning!

You will learn how to weave on a peg loom, which is a simple loom on which you can create ‘chunky’ rugs. One of the beauties of this type of weaving, is that the article grows quickly!

If you wish to bring your own fleece, please do so…  Rugs can be made either with ‘raw’ wool or wool washed and dried before coming to the workshop.   You will need about  1.5  kgs fleece.  You can purchase Shetland fleece in natural colours from Owena, cost £5 kg raw (unwashed)  £10 washed. White unwashed Lleyn fleece will also be available. You will also need cotton for the warp (minimum 50 m), which Owena will supply at cost if you don’t bring your own.

This is going to be great fun, lots of talk, and busy fingers, Owena will supply tea, coffee and cake but you may want to bring lunch with you.

If you have a peg loom please say so in the comment box when you book so that SFTG knows how many looms we need to borrow for this workshop!
